US group Transocean's oil rig GSF Galaxy II has arrived in Dundee for up to 10 weeks of general maintenance work, harbour and city officials said, the Aberdeen Press and Journal reported.
The GSF Galaxy II, which stands 557ft tall, is berthed at the Prince Charles Wharf.
The paper reported that the Transocean rig is expected to remain at the harbour for up to 10 weeks.
The Galaxy II jackup rig has three legs and can operate in water almost 400ft deep and can drill to a depth of around 30,000 ft.
But it may not be plain sailing for the rig.
The Press and Journal reports that during previous visits of rigs to the city there were "numerous complaints" from residents who said they interfered with TV reception.
Some of the worst affected were in the Craigiebank area in the east of the city.
Householders believed the rig was blocking the signal from the Tay Bridge transmitter.
