Carrying on with Columbus
Published 05.08.2008 11:03:59 by John Bradbury
Serica Energy has signalled firm plans to develop the UK Central North Sea Columbus gas and condensate field by 2010 with a field development plan submission soon and has expressed confidence in getting a host-infrastructure deal in place in order to tie the field back.
“UK gas prices have continued to rise this quarter which adds further impetus to our plans to develop the Columbus gas-condensate field, in which the company drilled the discovery well in 2006 and two appraisal wells in 2007,” Serica said today in its interim results statement. “A pipeline route survey is planned this summer and Serica expects shortly to submit the Columbus Field Development Plan to the UK authorities. The field lies in close proximity to existing production infrastructure, and negotiations to secure access are in progress, with the expectation that production could commence in 2010.” Horizontal wells will be used to exploit the field with a subsea tieback to take production to host infrastructure ![]() Arrests for Greenpeace fourFour Greenpeace protesters who boarded the Stena Don rig working on a deepwater well offshore Greenland for Cairn Energy have been arrested.
