Topaz testing to continue
Published 20.11.2009 11:29:45 by John Bradbury
Operator RWE Dea in the UK has confirmed the start of production from its Southern North Sea Topaz gas field which partner Faroe Petroleum previously indicated. Germany's RWE said the field, which lies across its operated UK blocks 49/1a and 49/2a, has started producing gas but is not yet operating at full choke, and commissioning tests will continue for a while. Topaz is tied back 15 km (9.3 miles) to the Tullow Oil operated Schooner platform via a 6-inch production line and from there gas is being exported into the Caister-Murdoch System (CMS) operated by ConocoPhillips to the UK Theddlethorpe gas terminal. Topaz was first discovered back in 1987, pointed out Rene Pawel, UK managing director of RWE DEA UK. He went on: “Our development team has worked closely with the Department for Energy and Climate Change, joint venture partners GDF Suez E&P UK Ltd and Faroe Petroleum, host operators and many contractors in successfully achieving this milestone.” ![]() Kuwait collection for PetrofacUK contractor Petrofac has collected a new contract with Kuwait Oil Company for work on new oil and gas pipelines. ![]() Exploration makes nine discoveriesExploration offshore Norway resulted in a total of nine discoveries being made in first half this year according to official figures.
