Congo Viodo well comes good
Published 23.11.2009 10:08:42 by John Bradbury
Drilling offshore West Africa in Congo Brazzaville has confirmed a new oil find on the Viodo field which will now move into conceptual development engineering.

Swedish independent Lundin Petroleum revealed that the Viodo Marine 4 well operated by London-listed Soco International hit hydrocarbons and flowed a 2,600 b/d of oil, plus 7 Mmcf/d of gas during two drill stem tests.

Lundin said the well – the fifth on and around the Viodo accumulation – will aid understanding of reservoir quality and fluid distribution and will be used with other well data, plus specially processed seismic to define reservoir quality distribution in the field.

“The results of this work will form the basis for future conceptual development studies and assessments of commerciality,” stated Lundin today, which has a 18.75% interest in the Soco-operated block Marine XI licence area.
