Shipbuilder STX Europe has linked up with a South American partner to develop a new shipyard in Brazil to serve the growing oil and gas services market there.STX said it is to develop the new construction yard at Fortalez in Ceará state in Brazil with a local partner, PJMR, which will follow up on its Niteroi shipyard in Brazil which opened in 2001. Roy Reite, president of STX Europe said the decision to open the new yard was a strategic move to serve the demands of an increasingly complex and demanding market. “The new yard in Ceará aims to serve the growing Brazilian oil and gas market by supplying various types of vessels as offshore & specialized vessels and LPG carriers,” Reite stated.
