Published 08.07.2010 12:34:10 by John Bradbury
CGG Veritas has taken delivery of a new seismic ship co-owned with Norway's Eidesvik Shipping.

Oceanic Vega, an ice-class Ulstein SX 120 design is equipped to carry up to 20 streamers at once and has been described as “..the largest and most powerful vessel of its kind,” by CGG.

Initially the new survey ship will be equipped with 16 solid Sercel Sentinel streamers and acoustic and streamer steering gear supplied by Nautilus, to provide high end marine seismic survey  capability.

Also the company declared its vessel utilisation and allocation rates for the second quarter this year, with 92% vessel availability, up from 90% in the first quarter this year, while vessel productivity was also put at 92%, equalling the figure for the first quarter.

And vessel allocation was split with 73% of work performed under contracts and 27% for multi-client operations.
