Published 19.07.2010 09:20:36 by John Bradbury
New seismic data is being acquired by TGS offshore Greenland in the latest addition to the Norwegian survey contractor's data library and coinciding with a new licensing round.TGS says it is to acquire another 15,000 sq. km of 2D seismic data off the northwest coast of Greenland in the Baffin Bay area, where a new licensing round is taking place, using the MV Bergen Surveyor to acquire the data, boosting the size of its Greenland library to 120,000 km of data n- of which 40,0000 km is over Baffin Bay. Data processing will be carried out by a TGS processing centre in Bedford, England, once the survey has been completed, and data is due to become available to the market in the first quarter next year. “A large number of companies pre-qualified and bid for acreage in the current Baffin Bay tender round,” pointed out Kjell Trommestad, vice president and general director for TGS in Europe. “These companies are awaiting the award of blocks which is expected to take place in Q3-2010. Companies will also be watching for the results from drilling off the southwest of Greenland – which is being carried out by Cairn Energy among others - which are expected in the third quarter this year. ![]() No single cause for Macondo accidentBP says no single factor caused the accident on the Deepwater Horizon rig in the US Gulf of Mexico in April. ![]() Valiant racks up profitNorth Sea operator Valiant Petroleum racked up US $64.5 m of revenue in the first half this year and pulled in higher pre-tax profits.
