Fugro to survey East Africa

Offshore survey provider Fugro has landed deals to provide metocean studies offshore East Africa for two companies including StatoilHydro.

One deal secured by Fugro is to provide current measurement for one year off Tanzania in a water depth of 1,700 m (5,576 ft) for African exploration company Ophir Energy.

Fugro's second deal with StatoilHydro and partners including Dominion Tanzania Ltd, Petrobras, Petronas, and Anadarko is for a current and wave motion study for moorings in water depths between 1,300 and 3,000 m (4,264 ft-9,840 ft).

Work will be carried out by Fugro's GEOS division and will provide environmental data for planning and design for field developments.
