Mongstad CO2 plant further delayed
Published 03.05.2010 09:40:27 by Elisabeth Kolstad
The project that the Norwegian Prime Minister has labelled a moon landing project has been delayed. The construction of a CO2 plant was originally scheduled to be built by 2014. The Norwegian government has now delayed the decision, and the plant is expected to be in operation in 2018, according to NTB. Ketil Solvik Olsen from the Progressive party thinks Oil and Energy Minister Terje Riis-Johansen breaks the Socialist party's promise that the cleansing would start in 2014. The Socialist Party's leader Kristin Halvorsen has no intention of withdrawing the party from the coalition government. Head of Gassnova, Bjørn-Erik Haugan thinks the delay will make it easier to plan the project. He says the pilot plant will be finished at the end of 2011, something that would not provide much time for tests, with the original date of 2012. With two more years before the CO2 plant is to be built, Haugan and co can acquire more experience with the technology. ![]() No new money: KNOCKNOC has confirmed it will not put any more money on the table to try and complete its hostile £1.67 Bn (US $2.57 Bn) takeover of Dana Petroleum.
