West Orion begins work for Petrobras
Published 19.07.2010 13:49:27 by John Bradbury
Seadrill has reported the start-up of operations on its latest newbuild rig offshore Brazil.

Oslo-listed Seadrill said the ultra-deepwater semi-submersible West Orion has started drilling for Petrobras.

West Orion was completed by Singapore's Jurong Shipyard in early July and the new rig is on charter to Petrobras for up to six years under its initial contract.

The newbuild is the third of three rig's Seadrill undertook to supply to Petrobras back in 2008.

“This strengthens our operational presence in one of the most important and promising regions for ultra-deepwater drilling,” declared Seadrill chief executive Alf Thorkildsen.
